Molten Salt

Salt crystalsMolten salt is salt which is solid at room temperature and atmospheric pressure, but turns into a liquid when heated to elevated temperatures.

Molten salt uses are wide ranging, and are commonly found being utilised as a heating medium within the metallic heat treatment, polymer & monomer production, and solar industries due to its excellent heat transfer properties. Having a high melting point, its stability at higher temperatures offers significant benefits over mineral oil based heat transfer solutions, and makes it suitable for functions such as alloy annealing and thermal storage.

EXHEAT's heaters can be used within storage tanks to ensure salt remains liquid, or in a process line to add heat to molten salt - prior to pumping it through to its process requirement. Our wide ranging certification allows for high temperature solutions in all temperature class designations.
