Student Robert Jones shakes hands with an EXHEAT staff

Watton, UK - As part of its programme of offering work experience to local students over recent years, EXHEAT Limited has taken on its first student placement via University Technical College Norfolk; with engineering, physics and maths student Robert Jones working in multiple departmental disciplines across the organisation.

The two week placement saw Robert follow the engineering, design and manufacturing process from inception through all phases to output of the end product. Robert was able to experience this by working with the teams in Research & Development, Engineering, Quality Control and finally Control Panel Production.

Robert Jones, 17, said: "I was really pleasantly surprised by my time at EXHAT. Everyone I worked with was so helpful in making the effort to really guide me with what I was learning. I was able to finish a piece of work in Engineering with the satisfaction of having made a genuine contribution." Rob happily shared that the Control Panel work was most enjoyable. He also was able to see himself working alongside the engineering team and may consider further education to meet the entry requirements for these positions. The two week placement helped Rob to better understand that the choices he makes now may help him shape his career direction later.

Rob receives hands-on knowledge

Human Resources Manager, Rosemary Jones, noted of the work experience initiative: "It's really good to be able to let young adults know that there are career opportunities in their local area, and to expand their ideas as to what they can achieve with their qualifications."

The benefits to both student and EXHEAT were summed up by Managing Director, Mark Jenner: "We are really pleased to have an A-Level student with us to see what Industry is like. We need young people to join our business from the local area. Rob was able to see how relevant his academic training is to Industry. We wish him all the best in his A-Levels."

EXHEAT will continue to take on further work experience placements as part of its strategy for the development of local talent acquisition and local employment opportunity generation.
